Specialist Care for Marlow Residents

Marlow's excellent schools, Sir William Borlase's Grammar, Danesfield, Great Marlow, educate children who face demanding academic programmes. When visual difficulties affect performance, colorimetry and SchoolVision assessments at Eyewise provide answers. Active adults who enjoy the Thames towpath and Chiltern walks also benefit from dry eye management and EyeDream lenses.

Marlow residents needing specialist eye care can access three focused clinics at Eyewise in Hillingdon, a 30–35 minute drive via the A404 and M40.

Dry Eye Clinic: The riverside location and exposed countryside around Marlow are beautiful but can aggravate dry eye. Wind on the Thames towpath, pollen from the Chilterns in summer, and heated homes in winter all contribute. Our specialist clinic identifies the specific type of dry eye you have and creates a treatment plan tailored to your triggers and lifestyle.

Colorimetry: Academically ambitious Marlow families take reading difficulties seriously. When a child at Borlase's, Danesfield, or Great Marlow School struggles despite ability, visual stress is worth investigating. Our Intuitive Colorimeter is the gold-standard diagnostic tool, and precision-tinted lenses prescribed from the assessment can dramatically improve reading comfort and speed.

EyeDream & Myopia Control: Marlow parents who understand the long-term risks of progressive myopia choose EyeDream for their children, overnight lenses that provide clear daytime vision and slow the worsening of short-sightedness. For adults, EyeDream offers glasses-free days for rowing, cycling, and outdoor pursuits along the Thames without the commitment of surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is colorimetry and how do I know if I need it?

Colorimetry is a specialist assessment for visual stress, a condition where the brain struggles to process certain visual patterns, particularly text. Symptoms include words appearing to move, blur, or shimmer on the page, headaches when reading, losing your place frequently, and eye strain. If you or your child experiences any of these, a colorimetry assessment can determine whether precision-tinted lenses would help.

How does EyeDream work?

EyeDream uses specially designed gas-permeable contact lenses worn only while you sleep. Overnight, they gently reshape the front surface of your eye (the cornea) so that when you remove the lenses in the morning, you can see clearly all day without glasses or daytime contact lenses. The effect is temporary and fully reversible. EyeDream also helps slow the progression of short-sightedness in children.

I row on the Thames at Marlow and struggle with wind-related eye irritation, can your dry eye clinic help?

Absolutely. Wind exposure during rowing accelerates tear evaporation, and splash from the water can introduce irritants. Our dry eye assessment will determine whether your meibomian glands are functioning properly and whether the tear film is adequate. We'll then create a treatment plan that protects your eyes both on and off the water.
