Specialist Care for Uxbridge Residents

Uxbridge's student population at Brunel, its office workers at Stockley Park, and its school-age children all create strong demand for specialist eye care. Dry eye from air-conditioned lecture halls and offices, visual stress affecting academic reading, and childhood myopia progressing with screen time, these are everyday issues in Uxbridge that require specialist attention.

When Uxbridge residents need specialist eye care, Eyewise offers focused clinics for dry eye, colorimetry, and EyeDream orthokeratology.

Dry Eye Clinic: Air-conditioned offices at Stockley Park, heated lecture halls at Brunel, and long commutes on the Elizabeth line, Uxbridge life creates perfect conditions for dry eye. Our clinic goes beyond drops to identify the underlying cause, whether that's meibomian gland dysfunction, inflammation, or environmental factors, then builds a treatment plan that targets the root problem.

Colorimetry: Uxbridge schools refer pupils to us when reading difficulties persist despite normal vision. Our Intuitive Colorimeter, the diagnostic gold standard, determines whether precision-tinted lenses would alleviate visual stress. For students at Brunel, we also assess screen-related visual discomfort that can mimic similar symptoms.

EyeDream Orthokeratology: Uxbridge parents are increasingly aware that their children's myopia is progressing. EyeDream overnight lenses gently reshape the cornea during sleep, providing clear daytime vision without glasses and, crucially, slowing the rate of myopia progression. For adults, EyeDream offers freedom from daytime correction for sports, swimming, and active lifestyles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is colorimetry and how do I know if I need it?

Colorimetry is a specialist assessment for visual stress, a condition where the brain struggles to process certain visual patterns, particularly text. Symptoms include words appearing to move, blur, or shimmer on the page, headaches when reading, losing your place frequently, and eye strain. If you or your child experiences any of these, a colorimetry assessment can determine whether precision-tinted lenses would help.

How does EyeDream work?

EyeDream uses specially designed gas-permeable contact lenses worn only while you sleep. Overnight, they gently reshape the front surface of your eye (the cornea) so that when you remove the lenses in the morning, you can see clearly all day without glasses or daytime contact lenses. The effect is temporary and fully reversible. EyeDream also helps slow the progression of short-sightedness in children.

Can I get a colorimetry assessment for my child who attends school in Uxbridge?

Yes. We assess children from schools across Uxbridge including The Douay Martyrs, Uxbridge High School, and Whitehall. Bring any reports from their teacher or SENCO, and we'll conduct a thorough colorimetry assessment. We can provide a written report for the school afterwards.
